Our first Bernese Mountain Dog was bought in summer 1975,
although we
had been waiting for a Kuvasz from a famous kennel then for six months.
We were
driving in Tatabánya, when we saw two beautiful Berneses in a
garden,
and we fell
in love with the vision at that moment. We were speaking with the
owners of the
dogs (Csaba Hegedûs and his wife), who were telling, that the dogs were
brought
from Germany and there were not any more in Hungary.
For our fortune the first litter was born in that year. There were nine
puppies. Kópé sat down onto the feet of my mother, and he
did not move
from
there. He was our first Bernese: HAVASORMI
GÓBÉ. The loveliness and the intelligence of the new
member of our
family bewitched
everybody. We regularly visited dog shows and training with him. In
summer 1976
we brought a female for Kópé from Germany.
She was CITA
VOM BERGBACHTAL. I took a lot of delight in our two dogs, they
taught me
the language of the dogs. My parents visited the shows gladly, so our
Kópé won
the titles of Hungarian Champion and International Champion, and he
passed the
obedience exam as well. Our first litter was born on 5th May 1979, which was an unforgettable experience as well. My
greatest pleasure
was, when I got my first OWN dog for Christmas 1981. He was CASTOR
VON ERNSTTHAL. I spent all of my spare-time with him. We visited
shows and
I taught him everything as far as possible. Castor won the title of
Hungarian Grand
Champion in 1984, and he passed the working-exam KI. as well. I was -
and I am
as well till today - very proud of Castor, because he was that of my
dogs, who
knew my thought as well.
I moved from home in 1991, I have tried to breed alone since then. For
my fortune, I have the helpful work of my daughter, Melinda at the
breeding. I
hope she will be so committed to Berneses, as I am.
